Mark of Mark Carey Contracting has been in the contracting, cultivation and baleage industry for over 15 years as independent contractor. Marks role these days is to stay off the tractors as much as is possible and instead to co-ordinate, evaluate crops and trouble shoot to ensure a seamless operation for the client. None of the above would be possible without the great team of staff that work with Mark and Anne. There are three full time permanent staff and a further two regulars coming in over the busy part of the season. All of the team at Mark Carey Contracting are local and that brings a huge wealth of area knowledge which is priceless.

At Mark Carey Contracting there is an eclectic mix of customers and tasks: a focus towards dairy support; but also work on horticulture blocks, a few sheep and beef farmers and work for lifestylers, travelling around Motueka, Waimea and Nelson areas, from flat land to hill country.

As Anne says "Lifestylers are becoming more common and as clients their needs are valid. For example some need horse-friendly grasses. They really appreciate information and Mark spends the time talking with them about ways to achieve what they want. We’re fairly old school; so customer service is really important to us.
